INTRODUCTION:

Strelecky Ostrov is a café and a bar but more than that it is also an excellent restaurant in a beautiful central Prague location. You will find it right on the river and just a few metres from the magnificent National Theatre to which it has fantastic views. Strelecky Ostrov restaurant has much to offer being as it is quite a large place. It has first and foremost a very impressive terrace where diners can eat either completely in the open air, or under an elegant cover. Then there is also the restaurant's main dining room laid out so that diners have a lovely view on to the river, and finally there are two cellar rooms which can be a splendid idea for really intimate dining, or indeed for having a private party.

CUISINE AND SPECIALITIES:

At Strelecky Ostrov restaurant the focus is on preparing and serving up the very best of international cuisine, but also having a number of quintessentially Czech offerings like their Old Prague Beef Goulash  on the menu too. Their kitchens of which they have two concentrate on creating some excellent Meat dishes most notably based around Fish and Pork. However perhaps it is their Beef Steak which is really the stand out choice. For those not in the mood for meat or who like to remain vegetarian there are some very fresh and healthy Salads to choose from as well as Main courses of Pasta and Pizza without any meat ingredients. Should you wish to go to the opposite extreme and take on something filling and very Czech you should try their Baked Duck Leg served with dumplings and thick sauce. Worth mentioning also is that Strelecky Ostrov do some truly delicious Desserts so if you like something sweet and tempting leave a little space for one of their Dessert offerings.

ATMOSPHERE AND STYLE:

Strelecky Ostrov is undoubtedly stylish and the chance to sit out there and watch the world go by from the comfort of your terrace seat is a very enjoyable one. The atmosphere is of elegance and a little opulence too, prices are reasonable by international standards but out of reach of most Czechs. Sipping a wine or a whiskey here is particularly pleasant and care free especially after a romantic dinner with candles. The lower restaurant has a capacity for well over a hundred guests while the stunning upper dining room that looks onto the National Theatre holds a nice number of around fifty. The upper level of the restaurant which includes the magnificent terrace which can be opened out to the sun or remain covered holds an astonishing 250 guests.

Strelecky Ostrov restaurant, and indeed its bars and cafes are up there with some of the most prestigious dining locations in the city. Not least because of its excellent location and proximity to the theatre and river bank it is enduringly popular. An afternoon or evening here away from the rush and tug of the busy streets is blissful indeed and if you have opportunity and the pocket it is a wonderful place to dine and relax. The restaurant also makes itself available in a big way to those who would like to hire it for an evening for a reception or celebration. They are well used to handling and satisfying big crowds at Strelecky Ostrov and additionally laying on music and dance.
