INTRODUCTION:

Restaurant Stoleti is a wonderful discovery for anyone in the heart of historical Prague wanting to choose an excellent dining establishment for a top quality meal while at the same time savouring the glory and beauty of Czech architecture and elegance. Because this particular place - located just a couple of minutes walk from the National Theatre - has made a real effort to preserve the spirit of the the old times inside its sturdy wooden entrance doors. A welcoming place it is indeed and to go with that the dishes are superb. Czech cuisine at its very best along with a tremendous number of international favorites can be expected, and, with a fine range of beverages too, that should please all ages and tastes.

CUISINE AND SPECIALITIES:

The first three hours of their working day - that is from noon till 3pm - gives one a fantastic chance to sample what they have to offer by virtue of their Lunchtime Menu. It normally consists of a couple of set-piece offerings which are tasty and excellent value too. For example it could be Beef Salad, or Soup of the Day followed by Trout  Osso-buco as a Main Course finished then by a delicious Dessert selection. Naturally the main Menu is the one with all the great choices and very helpfully it is written up in english and priced in euros also to assist tourists. Superbly created Starters begin the Menu card and one could try the delightful Grilled Camembert with Cranberries, or the Stuffed Avocado with Tomato Escabache to get one's taste buds active. Main dishes centre around magnificent Beef Steaks, Chicken offerings, Pork Tenderloin, Turkey Medallions and much more. To lighten the mood there are also fresh and healthy Salad offerings as well as a nice selection of Vegetarian possibilities.

ATMOSPHERE AND STYLE:

The interior of Restaurant Stoleti is quite beautiful and it is evident that a great deal of effort went into maintaining its link with old Prague. The tables are set neatly and comfortably apart to ensure the most intimate and private of dining. The decor is splendid being primarily wooden and the lighting is suitably understated and minimalist. Some features like the bar and the fireplace have been wonderfully finished and the wooden snake which hangs from the ceiling dates back to the 1840s.Sipping on one of the great wines on offer is a lovely experience while reflecting on all of the history of this venerable old place.

Restaurant Stoleti - which actually translates as 'restaurant of the century' - opens every day from Noon till midnight with last orders happening at in or around 11pm. There are a number of ways to reach it especially if one is strolling around Prague's magnificent old town. The easiest way to find it is to get yourself to the intersection of Karoliny Svetle Street and Konviktska Street, opposite the St Cross Rotunda and that is where they are. By stepping off the tram at Narodni Divadlo stop and walking into Narodni St on the side opposite the the great theatre itself you quickly find Karoliny Svetle Street and by walking down it to the corner you are at your destination.
