U Modre Kachnicky Restaurant

INTRODUCTION:

U Modre Kachnicky is a stunningly pretty restaurant in the centre of Prague that captures your imagination as soon as you walk in. That is because the style and the decor are like a step back into the world of the 1920s and 30s. The prices though are anything but, but hopefully that won't put you off trying out this restaurant whose speciality is duck prepared and served up in the most imaginative of possible ways. Accompanying the top-of-the-range cuisine is a selection of all kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to make an afternoon or evening at this unique restaurant a very memorable one.

CUISINE AND SPECIALITIES:

Without a doubt this is a place for meat eaters and in particular lovers of duck. The outstanding chef and his team serve up duck in a number of unforgettable dishes which you will marvel at. There a couple of token vegetarian dishes here should you really not be into meat and furthermore some of the delicious and healthy salads may be just right for you. Appetizers at U Modre Kachnicky are set around some very delicate creations indeed like Wild Game Pate, or Saddle of Fallow Deer. The Main Courses have at least eight Duck preparations including the superb Flambéed Duck Breast spiked with Dried Apricots, Red Wine and Green Pepper Sauce and Almond Potato Croquettes. Duck apart you could try the magnificent Deer, wild Boar, Pheasant, Hare or Venison. Such gourmet dining requires surely some fine wine also and  U Modre Kachnicky doesn't disappoint. They do quite an amazingly impressive selection of really fantastic Reds and Whites, while some of their vintage Wine and Champagne is really exceptional.

ATMOSPHERE AND STYLE:

U Modre Kachnicky is unashamedly old style and almost like a doll's house such is its attention to detail and perfection. Stunning drapes seem to hang everywhere and all the windows are covered in the most delightfully made curtains.The furnishings too are just like a fairytale with the high-backed and gorgeously upholstered chairs as well as the neatest of tables all wonderfully set for perfect dining. Cabinets, coat and hat-stands, wall paintings, and beautiful lighting complete the picture. Service incidentally is superb and is a credit to the friendly and very pleasant staff. U Modre Kachnicky is certainly a place to take slowly - give yourself lots of time to enjoy its charm and its unforgettable elegance.

FURTHER INFORMATION: U Modre Kachnicky is in the lovely Lesser Town part of Prague from where Charles Bridge and Prague Castle are but a short walk. They open from noon until 4pm daily, and then again from 6pm till midnight. You will find them on the quiet street Nebovidska.
