The Prague Airport located to the northwest of the city is the largest in the country handling more than 11 million passengers last year. Due to its advantageous position in middle Europe it also serves as an important hub for those travelers heading either east or south. The airport won the prestigious World Airport Award last year for being the best in Eastern Europe. Currently 42 airline companies connect Prague directly with more than 100 worldwide destinations. The airport has two main terminals both with modern self-service check-in facilities. A third terminal is used primarily for private flights and special national occasions and doesn't concern the typical traveller.

Bus service from the airport to city centre
Prague Airport parking area map
'From the airport the distance to the city centre is about 17 km (11 miles). Transportation to and from the airport to the city centre can be done by using one of the designated taxi services which serve the airport. These have a fixed price and the journey time should be no more than 20 to 25 minutes. However at times the route can be very busy and lengthen the journey time significantly.
The Prague public transport system runs a very regular service to the metro and also to the main train station. Using this method to get to or from the airport may take approximately 50 to 55 min. The fastest connections to the city centre (Wenceslas Square) would be to take Bus 100 from the airport to metro station Zlicin (about 18 min) and then by metro (from Zlicin) about 25 min to the main central square.
