Jodhpur Information

Founded in 1459, Jodhpur, in the western part of Rajasthan, is now the second largest city in the state. With its magnificent fort, striking palaces and beautiful gardens, Jodhpur always features high on travellers' lists of things to do. Its alternate name - the 'Blue City' - is due to the beautiful blue buildings that surround the fort.

Jodhpur is divided into two parts: the Old City is a citadel, surrounded by a 10 kilometre wall; the New City sprawls out on the other side of the wall.

The city enjoys sunny weather all year round, but the most comfortable temperatures come between September and March.

Due to its central position, Jodhpur makes an ideal base for exploring other parts of Rajasthan.
