It was built by Raja Ram Singh, to be used as the Town Hall, but his successor, Raja Madho Singh, dedicated the building to art and converted the building to a museum.
The museum showcases some very rare paintings of royalty of Jaipur , as well as a wonderful collection of the renowned Jaipur jewelry , which has been a core strength of the artisans of Jaipur, from very long time and is still very much alive .
The Central Museum also has a huge collection of miniature paintings from the Udaipur, Jaipur, Bundi, Kota and Kishangarh schools of painting. There are also fine specimens of woodwork, metal objects and other arts & crafts.
