Reykjavik Marathon (24 Aug 2013)
Date 24 Aug 2013
The Reykjavik Marathon is a great marathon, and a great way to take in the city while challenging yourself physically and meeting people from all over the world.
The events include a full marathon and a half marathon, 10 km, relay, 3 km and the children's LazyTown run. The starting line is in the downtown area by MR, the first Icelandic high school, through residential areas, public parks and by the coast.
This year's marathon is celebrating the fact that it's the 30th consecutive run since it was first held in 1984. The number of contestants has risen steadily every year, from 214 the first year to 13.410 in 2012, who together managed to raise 46 million ISK (300.000 EUR or 400.000 USD) for charity.
