Kaffitar Overview

Kaffitár´s espresso bar offers espresso drinks and filter coffee prepared by award winning baristas, coffee beans, gift items and snacks and is located on the ground floor of Smaralind shopping center.

Kaffitár is an Icelandic roasterie, specializing in importing, roasting and serving the finest Arabica coffee beans. Apart from the roasterie, the company owns eight coffee stores-espresso bars or cafés. In addition to our espresso bar in Smáralind, there are four in Reykjavík, one at our roasterie and two at the international airport featuring coffee beans, coffee drinks, snacks and gift items. Kaffitár´s coffee expert personally selects each type of coffee, since not all Arabica beans meet our high standards. Producing specialty coffee may be compared to wine production and brewing, where good quality beans and correct preparation is essential from start to finish.

Kaffitár´s coffee is roasted daily to ensure the coffee´s freshness. The coffee specialist tastes a sample from each batch of coffee to make sure that each coffee´s characteristics have been brought out. The coffee is packed right away and shipped to our café´s and customers. An ideal way of preserving Kaffitár is in an airtight container, preferably in the refrigerator. That way the coffee maintains its flavor and freshness.
