Through the years Reykjavik has seen some very good high-end fish restaurants open and become very popular with locals and visitors alike. The newest addition to the capital´s restaurant scene is the Fish Company restaurant (Icelandic: Fiskfélagið). Fish Company is located in the famous Zimzen building that dates back to 1884 but has recently been re-located and renovated under the supervision of Iceland´s Heritage Trust.

The Fish Company is a fish restaurant with a flair and a touch of fusion. Everything about this restaurant spells adventure, from the interior to the menu. If you are really adventurous you should take a close look at their “Around the world” menu where the chefs choose your experience, focusing on Icelandic products, using herbs & spices from around the world. These kind of special menus have become very popular in similar restaurants and this one is bound to be as well.

Do let the name fool you into thinking this is only a fish restaurant, not at all. On the menu are items like beef rib eye and duck breast but of course both served “Fish Company style”.

The Fish Company is an exciting place to visit and one you should visit if you want to treat yourself to something different. This is a restaurant you will not easily forget dining in - and for a good reason.
