
	Gallery Restaurant Overview Hotel Holt has for decades hosted some of Reykjavik´s best restaurant and today is no exception. The Gallery restaurant has gotten raving reviews from both local and international critics for it´s french inspired cuisine. Head chef at Gallery is Fridgeir Ingi Eiriksson a veteran that gained attention when working for 5 years as a head chef at Clairfontaine, a Michelin star restaurant in Lyon, France. It goes without saying that at Gallery they only use the best ingredients available and settle for nothing short of perfection in their cooking and presentation. Both the hotel and Gallery restaurant have always focused on providing the best in dining services and continue to do so with excellent waiters that are very well educated on everything related to the menus. Gallery has the city´s greatest wine cellar with more than 4.000 bottles of vintage wines. A additional superb collection of cognac, Armagnac and single malt whiskeys goes well with the quality of this unique restaurant. The interior is classic and respectful with 2 lounges available for relaxing with cognac or a drink of your choice.

Cheap lunch.

I'm a student, so this restaurant is too expensive for me to go during the evening. However, you can also go for lunch and have a three course dinner for very little money. You will not need a proper dinner afterwards. I've gone there two times and both have been excellent. The standard are brilliant, compared with any other restaurant in Iceland, however there are some few details with the food that could be better - but this is without a doubt the best restaurant you can find in Iceland! Standard is beyond excellent and somehow it's almost comic to experience being in such a fine restaurant. Your glass is never empty, there's a plate for the cork, the butter is whipped... I also have to mention the interior. It's called the gallery because the walls are covered with paintings from some of the best Icelandic painters. So if you don't like fancy food, you can always enjoy the paintings.

Excellent service but OK food

I had high expectations as I entered Hotel Holt where Gallery is located. My party decided to take the "Steak menu" since it looked really good. The service at Gallery is top class and you are treated like royalty. Unfortunatly the food was not a excellent. The main thing wrong was the steak in the three course menu. It just did not taste good enough for any of us.
