It has a rich and interesting history. Laekjarbrekka is a classy and elegant restaurant in every aspect, refined and well respected throughout the years.
Laekjarbrekka specializes in fine Icelandic cuisine, focusing on the Icelandic lamb and the country's distinguished fresh seafood. Laekjarbrekka provides first rate service and strives to make sure that the costumers leave satisfied with the entire experience.
The menu at Laekjarbrekka offers a wide range of courses from lunch to dinner. At lunch the restaurant emphasizes on light and fresh dishes, such as soups, salads, fish and chicken dishes. In the afternoon the restaurant turns into a café with a variety of small dishes and sweets. Diversity takes over in the evening with a range of dishes from appetizers to splendid meat and fish courses.
There are plenty of exciting courses on the menu, such as the starter puffin salad with fennel, turnip, oranges, blueberries and dulse. The main course menu features the best from the farmers and fishermen, such as the rack of lamb with grilled lobster tails, almond potatos, mushrooms and garden thyme sauce, and the panfried artic char with fennel, angelica, carrots, potatos and hollandais sauce. Last but not least we recommend the desert dish Eyjafjallajokull, named after everyone‘s favorite volcano, a dish that contains strawberry slush, liquorice meringue, macaroons and sweet buttermilk foam.
For a fine dining experience in a luxurious environment, Laekjarbrekka should be the perfect destination for you.

June 2010 Heavenly !
Elisa Haflida from Reykjavik, Iceland
Absolutely the greatest meal I've ever had. The service was excellent and even though we usually don't tip in Iceland I was really tempted to do that.
I recommend everyone to try Laekjarbrekka at least once! Then you'll definitely dine there again.

November 2009 Impossible!
I worked for several years in great eateries and therefore it is impossible to please me - my standards for food and service are unreasonable at best. Laekjarbrekka exceeded my expectations. The food was extraordinary and the service perfect. I enjoyed their signature Icelandic Lamb special (twice) and their Christmas buffet. I would kill for another order of their chocolate souffle. Ignore the 80's era music and the angel kitsch decorating this place is the real deal. Bon apetite!
