Seafood Cellar Restaurant Overview

The Seafood Cellar is a a seasonal restaurant that

worships everything that the Icelandic nature has to offer, as well as using a few things from Scandinavia. The Seafood Cellar puts the New Nordic Kitchen in the forefront and has quickly become one of Iceland´s leading New Nordic restaurants.

The atmosphere of the place is a blend of old and new, the cuisine is fully focused on the new Nordic kitchen that has rocked the Nordics in last few years. The restaurant is placed in one of the oldest houses in Reykjavik where both the floors and the outer walls are original. The interior is a great mixture of modern design set in an ancient environment. The atmosphere the restaurant is able to create is both exotic and comfortable. This elegant atmosphere along with mouth watering dishes has made this restaurant into one of the hottest places in Reykjavik.

The Seafood Cellar Restaurant is well placed in the centre of Reykjavik. It is well placed for people that want to discover the heart of the city whether it be during the evening or the day.

Amazing!
Rachel Scott from Scranton, NY

We had dinner at this restaurant during our visit to Reykjavik in February 2011 and had one of the best meals of our lives. The 5 course menu along with wine did exceed our expectations by far and we were very impressed. The interior is dark but very elegant and really makes for a great dining atmosphere. The 5 course menu had one meat dish that really did not match the rest but never the less a great experience. If you do not go for a 4/5 course menu you should go for some of the fish dishes - skip the meat. Would go back any day of the week!

I visited The Seafood Cellar with a friend recently. He had the tuna but I had a dish that had three types of fish. The food was good but I could maybe have liked a bit bigger portion. We really enjoyed our visit and hope to visit again if back in Iceland.

My favorite!

Along with 3 colleges I visited the Seafood Cellar after hearing very good things. Even with high expectations we left impressed with everything regarding our visit. Fantastic food (and presentation), excellent service and a special interior made this one of my favorites. If I go to Iceland again I am sure I will go there again.
