Our Locals' Tip: A glass of whiskey and a fine cigar will do the trick at the end of your meal.
Argentina Steakhouse welcomes you into their arms in the heart of Reykjavik, where they offer some of the the finest cuisine there is to find in the whole city. Grilling meat and fish of all kinds Argentinian style using wooden coal is what they do better than any other restaurant and frankly, you won‘t believe your own tastebuds. Argentina Steakhouse has been a favorite of Icelandic locals since 1989. The southern atmosphere is easily detectable as soon as you walk in and through the wooden paneled passageway to the restaurant, where you‘ll be kept warm by the sizzling fire in the fireplace.
The classic menu at Argentina Steakhouse has remained unchanged from the beginning, and they only serve Icelandic beef of superior quality. The Icelandic ox is smaller than elsewhere, and the body develops slowly, making the muscles finer so that there is more time for fat to build up. Fat is the secret to a perfectly grilled steak, so it turns out succulent and tender. The beef rump steak with café du Paris butter, wok vegetables and baked potato is the perfect example. The main focus of the restaurant is steaks but it also offers a wide selection of seafood and the famous Icelandic lamb, which is almost organic by nature as they are not fed grain or given any hormones. Instead they roam free in the wilderness of Iceland while they wait to get on your plate. Try the lamb fillet with wok vegetables and baked potato. You won‘t be disappointed.
The wine menu is quite extensive with a wide selection of red, white and sparkling wines, and the dessert menu is just too appetizing, you won‘t be able to resist the selection. Taste their slow cooked pears with marengue, liquorice ganace and red grapes, or the panna cotta with white chocolate, orange sauce and pistachio biscotti. Is your mouth watering yet? For those who want to fully experience everything that Argentina Steakhouse has to offer, we recommend the four course menu which includes pan fried trout, oxtail confit, grilled lamb with thyme, potatoes, coriander and asparagus as a main course and the slow cooked pears for dessert.
The soothing and comfortable atmosphere combined with a dining experience like no other at Argentina Steakhouse makes for a perfect evening in Reykjavik city.
