Hraðlestin

Hraðlestin is a chain of high-quality Indian restaurants in Reykjavík with a charming, relaxed Bollywood decor, serving an eclectic collection of modern day Indian street food. The dishes are created by native Indians, with the freshest Icelandic ingredients, and the servers are cheerful and friendly. The food is served 'over the counter' and the atmosphere is relaxed, making Hraðlestin an affordable and pleasant place to grab a quick bite, get something to go, or to sit for an evening in the company of good friends.

The menu features western/Indan combinations like Chicken Tikka pizzas in addition to more traditional courses like Thalis (small bowls of different courses, such as curries, rice, and Naans). The dinner menu features classic Indian dishes and several vegetarian and vegan options are available all day long.

Locations

The first restaurant opened in 2003 and soon became immensely popular. Since then, three other locations have opened.

Hverfisgata 64
The original Indian Express, which opened in 2003, is nestled comfortably downtown on Hverfisgata, which is parallel to Laugavegur, the high street of Reykjavik. Don't be fooled by its modest basement space,  it's still a first-class restaurant. 

Lækjargata 8
This branch sits in a premium spot in the downtown area, in a historic and charming old two-story wooden house. For the authentic Indian feel, all of the interior decor, chairs, tables and the wood panelling of the walls were imported straight from India. 

Kringlan Shopping Mall
On the bottom floor of the original shopping mall in Iceland, Kringlan, you will find some high-quality food that's hard to beat in most shopping malls. The food is served in an open 'plaza' dining area so you can take the chance to look around and window shop from your seat.

Hlíðarsmári 8, Kópavogur
This restaurant is more spacious, perfect for eating in and enjoying the atmosphere.
