Alanis Morissette (7 Sep 2012)
Date 07 Sep 2012
Time 22:00 - 23:45
Two decades of global success, a career marked with seven Grammy Awards and more than 60 million albums sold, Alanis Morissette comes to Brazil in September for the introduction of her new, unreleased album, "Havoc and Bright Lights". The new CD, distributed by LAB 344, arrives at stores on August 28.
Havoc and Bright Lights is produced by Guy Sigsworth (also working with Björk, Madonna, Seal) and Joe Chiccarelli (past collaborations with Elton John, U2, Jason Mraz). Together, Alanis and Sigsworth have written about 30 compositions and Chiccarelli was responsible for incorporating the electronic element to the mix bringing a unique "organic" sense to music. The first single, "Guardian", is available on iTunes.
“'Havoc' refers to the song with that title and the challenges and consequences of taking responsibility and recovering from different addictions,” , explains Alanis. “‘Bright Lights’ speaks to both the spirituality that pervades all the songs, with us all being ‘light’ at our core, and the hot heat (or bright lights) of being famous and in the public eye, as in the song ‘Celebrity.’”
"The reason this new album represents such a celebration for me is that I can still exist in the context of popular culture, but I’m also experiencing connection because the climate now allows for it. Whether it’s through social media, Tweeting, or blogging, it’s enabled me to achieve the intimacy with my fans and peers that I’ve always wanted.” -
