Bar dos Descasados

The Bar dos Descasdos is great place to slip away from the crowds and see a beautiful sunset with the “love of your life”. Tucked away as the Lounge at the Santa Teresa Hotel, the Bar is also a fine place to enjoy a caipirinha in the afternoon or evenings until 11:30 pm – when it closes so as to not disturb the hotel guests.

The Lounge, which was developed from the former slave quarters of this 19th century mansion, is a wonderful place for a respite from the hot sun with beautiful views of Santa Teresa and downtown Rio. There is both indoor and outdoor seating with large comfortable chairs and couches within the teak cabanas. They offer light meals, snacks and appetizers, in addition to a wide variety of fine wines, cocktails, and special cachaças. Take a look at their menu of offerings.

The comfort and ambiance of the location is enhanced by the décor. The bar is decorated with hand painted red and white tiles with the lounge area surrounded in arched walls of exposed stone and concrete. The bar was recognized by Veja Rio magazine as the "most romantic bar" in Rio de Janeiro and we find it hard to argue the point. So spend an intimate afternoon at the Lounge or visit with friends to toast the beautiful sunset.
