Margutta Italian Restaurant

The Margutta Restaurant is one of the pioneers of Northern Italian cuisine in Rio and is considered one·of the best in this wealthy Ipanema neighborhood where it has been located for nearly 20 years. The menu is rich and varied (changing every 40 days or so) and features an extensive offering of appetizers, seafood, risottos, fresh oysters, pastas, fish dishes and choice meats.

The restaurant is just a block away from the Ipanema beach and is bathed in a soothing Bordeaux color exterior. It's interior is simple, yet comfortable and also offers a spacious private dining room on the 2nd floor for private parties of up to fifty guests. Another private room (accommodating 14 people) is a perfect place for business meetings or intimate family events. (Wireless internet service is available on both the first and second floor).

The name, Margutta is a famous street in Rome (Via Margutta) filled with art galleries and quaint restaurants. In Rio, it is the place where you can find the culinary art work of chef Paolo Neroni. Following in the footsteps of his father, Quirino Neroini, Paolo learned his trade in his hometown in the Marche region of central Italy and was schooled in San Benedetto del Tronto. The influences of Mediterranean cuisine, especially the emphasis on fresh seafood is evident in the preparation of all the Italian specialties, created by Chef Neroni.
