Our Local Experts say:

There are not many German restaurants in Rio, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the great food offered at the restaurants that include German specialties on their menu.

The German sausage such as Bratwurst and Wiener that is found in Rio benefits from Brazil's abundant source of meat products, with numerous cuts of fresh beef and pork blended perfectly with traditional German spices. Pan fried dishes are also very good including the favorite Sauerbraten (“sour roast'”), a beef dish marinated to perfection in a vinegar or wine vinegar mixture. Add some Spätzle (noodles) or pan roasted potatoes (Bratkartoffeln) with a beer and you are set for the day.
