Singapore Weather

As a tropical island located close to the equator, Singapore has no true seasons. This makes it a perfect destination for travelers all year round. The climate is generally very agreeable, and most days are sunny with bright blue skies. However, as with all tropical islands, sudden thunderstorms occur frequently, sometimes daily, with heavy rain and wind. We suggest just sitting back and watching the impressive spectacle from a safe place, such as a restaurant with a view, while enjoying a meal or drink. Usually, within an hour it's back in the sunshine again!

The average temperature is between 28 and 35 °C (82 °F - 95 °F) with the typically high humidity of a tropical paradise. This can be quite exhausting during midday hours, so try to plan major outdoor activities for the early mornings or late afternoons, and make sure you drink enough water during the day.

Monsoon seasons occur twice a year, but are not as significant as in other Asian countries, and relatively dry. The greatest amount of rainfall takes place from December to early March. During this time, days are cooler and windier.

• Umbrellas are widely used by locals, as protection from the sun. 

• In heavy rain, you are better off with open shoes (slippers), shorts and a poncho.

• Take it easy if it rains heavily for some time. There is plenty to do indoors.
