Film Under the Stars: The Salt of Life

During summer nights, the film stars come out at Ljubljana castle. A selection of this season’s top films has once again been put together by Kinodvor in co-operation with the City of Ljubljana and Ljubljana Castle. In the open-air cinema, under the stars, in the castle courtyard, no less than five cinematic delights will be screened for the first time in Slovenia.

Films are screened in their original language with Slovene subtitles.

The recently retired Gianni has many things to worry about, but romance is not one of them. At least not until his friend Alfonso decides to reacquaint him with the “salt of life”. But poor Gianni is like an old, rusty car: the engine might still be rolling, but more is needed to get him back on the road… Director-actor Gianni Di Gregorio convincingly plays the lead in this autobiographically tinted, bittersweet, sparkling comedy. Italian spoken.

Ticket sales: at the Kinodvor box office (open daily, from one hour before the first screening until the beginning of the last screening at Kinodvor); the Ljubljana Castle Info Center (open daily from 9:00 to 21:00); Lower Funicular Station; Kompas offices throughout Slovenia; and other mojekarte.si sales points. Online sales at www.ljubljanskigrad.si and www.mojekarte.si. Tickets are also sold one hour before the screenings at the Ljubljana Castle box office.

Funicular railway to Ljubljana Castle: return tickets for Film Under the Stars audience members: 3 EUR. Film Under the Stars cinema tickets are also available at the Lower Funicular Station.

Cancellation: in case of rain the screening is cancelled. You can either exchange the ticket of the cancelled screening for a ticket to another screening at the Ljubljana Castle, or you can request a refund at the venue of purchase (until September 3, 2012). The cancelled film will be screened the following evening at Kinodvor at 21:30. Tickets for those screenings can be purchased or obtained in exchange for tickets of the cancelled screening at the Kinodvor box office (until the seating capacity is reached!). Cancellations will be announced at www.ljubljanskigrad.si and www.kinodvor.org by 20:00.
