![]() Baia The Italian OverviewLittle has changed since the opening of Baia in 1998, they still hold true to serving a classic Italian menu with fresh local and imported foods to satisfy all palates at all times of the day. Diners couldn’t ask for more location wise as the restaurant sits right on the front promenade of Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour.
The lunchtime atmosphere was bustling as we sat at our outdoor table and checked out the menu. There is an abundance of pizzas to choose from, as well as garlic prawns, calamari, fish and other seafood dishes, sandwiches, pasta dishes, a rump steak on the specials board and kid’s options. So we felt that they had all the angles covered; the seafood and the pizzas seemed to be particular popular so I toyed with the idea of combining the two with their smoked salmon pizza.
This time around however we chose a steak sandwich and the fish and chips. The sandwich was not the heartiest steak sandwich we had ever seen but the fish and chips was tasty and fresh. The crispy beer battered chips being a highlight. Baia is a popular restaurant however I suspect that might be down more to its superb location than its food. Saying that though the prices were reasonable compared to next door restaurants and I would recommend Baia for a family meal at lunch time, perhaps before a trip to the aquarium or the IMAX theatre. |
