The lodge is ideally situated in the eastern part of Lake Victoria and is an easy destination just seventy five kilometers from the western Serengeti gate at Ndabaka. It can also be incorporated as a stop over when arriving from the Masai Mara into Tanzania. Lukuba Island Lodge Accommodation: The Lodge is comprised of five intricately built stone bungalows with grass thatched roofs, along with three traditional, tented safari cabins on a neighboring bay, all with lake views, just steps from the beach. Set under massive fig trees and flanked by granite monoliths, the rooms provide a beautiful view of the rock islands scattered across the channel and yet are private enough to enjoy the quiet songs of the visiting shore birds . . . .
The lodge accommodates a maximum of 16 guests per day, allowing for a highly personalised experience. Lukuba Island Lodge Facilities: Guests may choose to try some of the more traditional methods of fishing using bamboo fly-fishing rods, as the local fishermen have been doing for hundreds of years around the lake. Fishing is not the only attraction at Lukuba. With over 90 species of birds a nature lover's day can be easily made; to add to this wildlife such as Nile monitor lizards, vervet monkeys and spotted necked otters are commonly seen. Guests may enjoy surrounding wildlife from a leisurely canoe or boat ride around the island, or by hiking on the massive rocks to attain stunning views of the lake.
Lukuba Island Lodge exists in harmony with its environment. The owners are committed to conservation and preservation of both the natural surroundings and local communities, which benefit from every visit. |

Lukuba Island Lodge - Reviews
Posted
August 2011 Great beach but lots of snakes and bilhazia.
Zeze from tanzania
We arived were given a drink, the tanzanian staff were friendly. Our banders were located on the beach, very nice.
But we had green snakes in our banders the staff wern't very concerned not untill we got a black snake in the banda then they got serious!
Out of our lagre group, 3/4 of us tested positive for bihazia from the water at Lukuba. A number of us became unwell. We contacted the group and almost everyone tested positive for bilhazia. It is a beautiful resort, just don't touch the water.
