Really good steak restaurants in Tanzania are very few and far between. Most good beef that is served in restaurants is imported from Kenya and can be quite expensive. Local beef is served but can sometimes be quite tough!
Most major towns will have restaurants serving steak, but this is normally part of a menu offering seafood and poultry. On the islands don't expect to find any steak restaurants unless it is at a hotel which has beef on their menu. When being served always ask where the beef comes from before making any decisions!
