Our Local Experts say:

Welcome to the world's music capital! More famous composers have lived here than in any other city – in Vienna, music is everywhere! Have a close look to our suggestion on opera houses - you will not have that much of a choice often again!

The Vienna State Opera House has one of teh best acoustics in the world. This you can prove for yourself in case you attend one of the almost 300 performances that are staged during one year in Vienna!

If you do not get tickets (and that is unfortunately possible) there is an alternative: The "Theater an der Wien". This theatre has only reopened its stage in 2006, newly refurbished and housing performances with a more baroque and contemporary edge as the traditional opera house here. Viennese highly cherish this new place to come and enjoy high quality opera performances as an excellent alternative. Best link to use for tickets is here.
