Matusadona Lodges and Camping Overview

Matusadona National Park is anIntensive Protection Zone for black rhino and hunting is not allowed in this area. It borders Lake Kariba, attracting animals with its water and grassy banks where lion, buffalo, elephant, waterbuck, zebra, impala and hippos can be seen.

There are a number of campsites, Tashinga is on the Lake shore and there is an ablution block with water, showers, toilets etc. There are braai sites provided and some of the camps do have shelter to sleep under.

At Sanyati Camp there are two sites, one can accommodate five people and the other six people. Braai facilities, and ablution block with running water are available. There are a couple of bush camps namely Jenje and Kandjedza, these camps are very rough so visitors must be well prepared and each camp can take a maximum of ten people. The camps can can only be accessed with a four wheel drive vehicle

In addition to those there are some exclusive camps, some of which only cater for one party at a time with a maximum of five people. One of them at Maronga is situated on the escarpment ideal of hikers. For people who don’t like camping there is Ume and Mabalabala Lodges which are found close to the Tashinga airstrip

Matusadona has plenty of birdlife as well as wildlife, and activities include bird watching in the stunning Sanyati Gorge, game drives, hiking and escarpment climbing as well as fishing in rivers that enter the lake Kariba.
