Praia Gale Beach

A beautiful stretch of excellent beaches

In the area of Galé, between Armação de Pêra and Albuferia, you have a great selection of beaches. This area is less developed than neighbouring Albufeira, the coastline being dotted with villas and low rise luxury complexes. There are enough beaches here to suit all tastes.

From west to east….

Praia da Galé is a continuation of the beach at Armação. The western part is wide and open while the eastern end has more rocky outcrops, wonderful rock formation, caves and grottoes. The rock pools are always a hit with families and the beach here can be quite sheltered.

Praia do Castelo is a favourite summer spot with both local and international visitors.

Evaristo and Coelho are two small beaches located between the rocky outcrops. They are sheltered but not the easiest to get at. You follow winding trails down onto the beach. But most agree – the effort is worth it. Golden sands, azure seas, sheltering rocks and tree topped trails – lovely!

São Rafael beach is nearest to Albufeira. This is a more open beach with a wide sloping expanse of sand. The waters are usually calm here and the beach is of easier access.

From Galé to the west  is a great stretch of coast for a walk - particularly wonderful out of season when the sands are less crowded and the weather is cooler. Even out of season, there are plenty of bars and restaurants where you can stop of for a drink or a bite to eat.
