Some of the best beaches in the world are to be found in the Algarve. Whether you’re looking for family fun, ease of access, a romantic getaway, plenty of action or splendid isolation, you can be assured of quality beaches.
Favourite beaches are very subjective - everyone has their own favourite. Some opt for secluded, cove beaches; others love wide broad expanses of golden sands. For some the wild beauty of the Algarve West Coast is unrivalled, while for others the luxurious pampering of a private beach club, and some great beach restaurants is their idea of heaven.
Most beaches in the Algarve are manned by lifeguards during the summer and they are a great source of handy beach information and local knowledge. And before you hit the beach be sure to check the weather - chances are it will be hot and sunny.
No less than 69 algarve beaches were awarded the prestigious Blue Flag this year (2012) for excellence in water quality, safety, environmental education and management.
