The Alicante region is famous for its food. Top chefs, such as Quique Dacosta, have set up restaurants here to serve up the finest cuisine from around the world. Don't leave without trying some delicious paella, prawns and mouthwatering desserts.
Many restaurants offer 'menu del dia' or a fixed price daily menu as well as a la carte. The Spanish eat late in the evening, maybe 9pm or later, so remember this when you set off for your evening meal. For a quick snack or a good way to try several Spanish dishes, you could order some tapas or little dishes of food. In Alicante you will find Spanish cuisine, regional Spanish restaurants such as Valencian or Galician as well as restaurants offering fare from around the world including English, Indian, Chinese, Thai, German, Dutch and Hungarian.
