Our stay in the Hotel Rio Athens did only left us feeling satisfied. This lovely place is located in the city center of Athens in a quiet pedestrian Odysseos street of "Metaxourghio" close to the metro station and very close to all local attractions . The buillding, which is neoclassical in taste, has been restored with all the possible modern amenities. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and the décor, simplistic. The restaurant and bar downstairs, serves lovely greek and Italian food, brilliant draught beer and refreshing drinks and cocktails .The breakfast is purely continental to suit everybody's tastes. The staff is welcoming and helpful and also extremely knowledgeable. From the hotel, you can walk to the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, Omonia square and Syntagma square and the main shopping areas within minutes. The night life area PSIRI and GAZI are very close too. We will sure prefer this hotel again for any future stay in Athens!!!
I recently paid a visit to the Municipal Gallery to see an exhibition called "Design 2011; Ecology - Modern Technologies". The gallery is housed in a refurbished 19th century building which feels almost new. The main collection, which unfortunately wasn't open when I visited, was moved there sometime in 2010.
The gallery is located in the Metaxourgeio district, which is regarded as the artistic heart of Athens. It is easy to get to from the centre by Metro. There are lots of shops and cafes in the area.
