Banking Overview

The financial services sector in Barbados is world-class, allowing international banks to establish themselves on the island, and compete as full-service facilities. The Central Bank of Barbados, listed first below, is not a commercial bank, and does not provide public banking services. It instead supervises and acts as banker to commercial and Government banks, regulates the availability, supply, and issue of money, and manages Barbados' foreign exchange reserves.

Six commercial banks are licensed for operation and offer an impressive range of personal and corporate services, including foreign currency exchange, 24hr credit card services, saving and checking accounts, deposits, loans and investments, wealth management services, internet banking, and even access to personal account information by telephone. Each bank also offers automated banking machines (ABMs) on and offsite and these are also provided for your convenience.
