![]() Mint Restaurant OverviewIf Mint restaurant at the Taj Hotel Cape Town is to be summed up with one word, that word would be "choice".
There’s the decision about where to sit. Should we be people-watching under the trees on St George’s Mall or watching the chefs in the show kitchen. Alternatively there’s the option of a private dinner on the mezzanine level.
The choice extends to the menu, which is flexible rather than overwhelming. It’s a classic menu featuring seafood, meat and poultry grills. The clever twist is that starters can be ordered as mains and vice versa.
The wine list is an eclectic collection of stunning South African wines, which carefully complement the menu and which an independent panel selected from nearly 900 options. A cocktail list offers timeless favourites as well as non-alcoholic options.
“Like the interiors, the menu is designed to accommodate different customers with different needs,” says Food and beverage director, Willem du Toit. “Whether you’re on holiday and want toenjoy a long leisurely evening meal, want to sample a whole lot of flavours or want a quick, tasty business lunch, there’s a combination that works.”
Mint is unashamedly contemporary. The interior is bright and airy and is bounded by the open-plan show kitchen, a floor-to-ceiling wine wall and full-length glass sliding doors that give uninhibited views of the St George’s Mall.
Mint is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
