Larnaka District Archaeological Museum

Larnaka District Archaeological Museum is located in the centre of Larnaka next to the ancient city of the Kingdom of Kition. The museum exhibits findings from the main Neolothic settlements of Choirokitia and Tenta. Today it consists of four galleries where objects are disposed following the chronological succession. The museum is a perfect opportunity for the visitor to get a good picture of the historical development of the city of Kition and the district of Larnaka.

Aside from the large collection of local exhibits, the museum also displays some unique items of Egyptian, Mycenaean, Phoenician, Assyrian and Persian origin that were found in the region of Larnaka, but may have been imported from the other great civilizations of antiquity close to the island.

Ayios Lazaros Byzantine Museum

Ayios Lazaros Byzantine Museum is located next to the superb early 10th century stone church of Ayios (Saint) Lazaros, situated in the centre of Larnaka. The museum exhibits religious icons, artefact's and relics from the Byzantine period.

Larnaka Medieval Museum

Larnaka Medieval Museum is located at the end of Phinikoudes promenade on Leoforos Athinon inside the Larnaka fort. This small museum contains displays from the Christian, Byzantine, Lusignan and Ottoman periods, as well as pottery, photos of historical sites and a collection of firearms, helmets and swords.

The courtyard features a collection of Ottoman cannons and also accommodates a 600-seat open-air theatre that is used for functions in the summer.

Pierides Museum - Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation

The Pierides Museum is located in the trading area of Larnaka and is housed in one of the most beautiful houses of Larnaka. It is the ancestral Pierides home, a colonial style building built in 1815. The Pierides museum is one of the most important museums on the island where one can find unique collections of Cyprus artefact's. It exhibits a collection of ancient, medieval, Byzantine and contemporary objects. In the garden of the house there is a fine display of modern Greek and Cypriot sculptures. The museum is linked with the Aphrodite Cultural Route.

Municipal Historical Archives - Museum of Larnaka
Located at the start of the Phoinikoudes promenade on Europe Square, the Municipal Historical Archives - Museum of Larnaka are part of the Municipal Cultural Centre that is housed in the complex of 1881 British Colonial buildings. Following their restoration, the buildings earned the 1996 ‘Europa Nostra’ award.

The museum is on the ground floor and exhibits a large collection of coins, starting with the 1st coin of the Kition, and beautiful photographs of the Larnaka city from 1850. The 2nd floor is only open to researchers and houses the city’s archives with rare books, editions and documents.

Larnaka Municipal Museum of Natural History

Larnaka Municipal Museum of Natural History is located within the Larnaka Municipal Gardens and displays a rich collection of rare insects, birds, local reptiles, animals, fossils and rock formations as well as marine life and plants from Cyprus and the surrounding countries. 

The Natural History Museum operates as a research centre of Cyprus nature, flora and fauna, as well as, an educational centre and recreational centre.

Folklore Museum Aradippou ‘Kostas Kaimakliotis’

Folklore Museum Aradippou ‘Kostas Kaimakliotis’ is located in the village of Aradippou, 10 minutes drive from the centre of Larnaka. The Folklore Museum is housed in an old mansion built in 1901. The museum was created with the aspiration of becoming a model centre for preserving and promoting Cypriot folklore tradition. A great museum to get a real feeling of true Cyprus tradition.

Museum of traditional Embroidery and Silversmith work

Museum of traditional Embroidery and Silversmith work is located in the village of Lefkara in Larnaka. The museum is housed in a beautiful house restored by the Department of Antiquities and houses rural furnishing belonging to the 19th and 20th centuries, traditional costumes, jewellery, silver work and a large collection of old Lefkara embroidery for which the village is renowned.

Kallinikeio Municipal Museum of Athienou

Exhibits collections that showcase aspects of the history of the area from the Late Bronze Age (1600-1050 BC) until today. The Museum consists of the Archaeological Collection, the Collection of Ecclesiastical Art and the Ethnographic Collection.
