Wootton
Wootton is conveniently positioned on the main road between Ryde and Newport. Wootton Creek has been used as a port and waterway for thousands of years, The Romans landed cargo here and the local monks from Quarr Abbey had a fishery and the mouth of the creek. Both the local mill and the creek itself encouraged settlement. When a road was created through the area, so was a Coach Inn - now the Sloop Inn pub. Now, the area is largely residential but also offers some great hotels and holiday rentals. The high street offers a small supermarket, various other shops and takeaways and couple of pubs.
