Shanklin

Further east around the coastline is Shanklin. Although not the largest town on the Isle of Wight, it is certainly one of the most popular with tourists. You will be spoilt for choice for places to stay in this charming town. It has something for everyone and thrives during the summer months. The Shanklin Old Town and Shanklin Chine are fairly central and easy to walk to. The Old Village is the original part of town, with old thatched pubs and shops, along with more traditional gift shops and hotels. Branching out from that is the newer part of town (not that new though... still largely Victorian!) providing the residential housing, shops, and guest houses. Strolling towards the coast you'll find a park and of course, Shanklin beach. The Esplanade is another great place to visitors, having everything you would expect at a seaside resort, from restaurants and ice-cream shops to crazy golf. The kids will love Jungle Jims, an indoor adventure play area.
