Bembridge, Brading and St. Helen's - Isle of Wight Information

Bembridge, Brading and St. Helen's

Brading is an inland village. It has shops and pubs along its main road, but is mostly residential. Brading is home to the Brading Roman Villa, beautifully displaying Roman ruins, including a villa, mosaics, farm buildings and even a garden. There is also a toy and doll museum.

Bembridge is a delightful, fairly large coastal village and along with Cowes and Yarmouth is popular with sailors. On the most eastern point of the Isle of Wight, Bembridge has a unique feel to it. The village is well equipped with various restaurants, pubs, and independent shops. It has a shallow beach nearby, which provides hours of fun with crabbing and rock pooling, especially at low tide. The RNLI Bembridge Lifeboat Station is stationed here - a vital service to the solent. The Bembridge Windmill, dating from around 1700, is now a national trust property and is open to the public from April to October. The Ryde School with Upper Chine boarding school is the base for a 'Camp Beaumont' children's holiday camp here in the summer.

St. Helen's is a lovely little village, where you will often find the locals playing a game of cricket or football on the green. There are a few shops and a pub.
