    How to get there

Located in the south west area of the island on Pom Mountain. Take the ring road from either direction, the road heading up the mountain is between the 4170 and 4174 turn off roads. The road to the Farm is next to a Chevrolet Car Dealership on the ring road. Currently there are road works and it may not be accessible by car. If so go back on to the ring road towards Lamai and take the exit opposite Wat Khunaram, home of the Mummified Monk. Follow the road to the top of the mountain and turn left, towards Tar Tain Waterfall. It is sign posted.

Our Locals' Tip: Take sunscreen and swimmers, you might just want to enjoy the pool and its fantastic views for the afternoon.

As suggested in the name, “Farm” this is not a zoo. It is a small collection of native and non-native creatures who seem happy and healthy in their mountain home.

There are various types of birds in and out of enclosures. You can enter the budgie enclosure and hand feed the birds. Other birds such as Cockatoos, Gray parrots and Macaws are perched outside, you can also feed them and take your own pictures with them.

Some miniature rabbits, guinea pigs and a little hedgehog mingle together in a small accessible pen. Great for the younger children.

An interesting sight is the disco coloured pigeons floating about freely around the bird enclosures.

One of the nice things we noticed here were the staff, they are really friendly and helpful. Usually we’d expect to be asked to take pictures with animals and pay fees to do so, but that’s not the case here. Also you can see that the staff has a genuine connection, understanding and love of animals.

Around the corner is another big enclosure of beautiful birds with wonderful vocals. There is large enclosed area with deer, goats, emus and a pony. All who will accept food direct from your hand. Except the emus, well they might but we weren’t going to chance it with their lovely beaks.

To make the trip worthwhile, you can enjoy lunch in a lovely Thai style open plan restaurant with a great view to the south west of the island and the surrounding jungle. A good mix of Thai and Western food is on offer and the prices are reasonable for a tourist attraction lunch.

After lunch you can go down for a swim in the infinity pool overlooking the same view. The pool is modern, there are 12 sun beds with umbrella covers and a small bar to the right. No extra cost for enjoying the pool, but a 200 Baht deposit for each towel is required.

Wildlife, food & drink, poolside relaxation with great views in natural surrounds, definitely worth a trip out for a relaxing change.

Certainly recommended for kids, particularly the young ones, they’ll be entertained for hours.
