Cafe Jubilee Overview

Café Jubilee has three outlets across the Maltese Islands...in Valletta, Gzira and Victoria (Gozo). The concept of these bistros is to reflect the hip style, decor and music of the 1920s and 30s, commonly known as the Golden Era. This actually is a welcome change from the run of the mill cafe and the whole ambience is a genuine respite from the commotion of Maltese towns.

The first thing to catch your attention is the purposely clattered wooden walls full of curious knick-knacks, from hanging period pushchairs to mismatched frames and general ornaments associated with this stylish era. In the meantime, Boulevard music plays in the background to complement a relaxing atmosphere. In the evening, the music is based on more vibrant pop tunes to create a livelier ambience adequate for night patrons. There is also a pretty regular live music (usually jazz and acoustic) schedule.

But Café Jubilee is not all about looks. The menu is fresh and creative. It ranges from snacks such as croissants, baguettes, wraps and panini to salads, soups and pastas, as well as platters to be enjoyed with a bottle of fine wine. The one common attribute is the consistency of the dishes in presentation, freshness and flavour.

The recommended plates must be the house specialities including their nourishing soups which, served with fresh Maltese bread, makes up a satisfying meal in itself. Also their trademark in-house produced ‘Nanna’s Home-Made Ravioli’ filled with Gozo cheeselets and served with a tomato and basil sauce or simply with butter and sage. There is also a tempting dessert menu including the sinful Jubilee split (a classic banana split with vanilla ice-cream, chocolate sauce and toasted almond flakes). The fine selection of good wines and coffees round off this appealing menu.

In a nutshell, Café Jubilee offers consistent genuine Mediterranean food in an original and uplifting ambience.

-----

Cafe Jubilee opens in Budapest! Even though beyond the concept of this website, it is great to announce that Cafe Jubilee that started with a small presence in Gozo 10 years ago has started its European expansion with a corner outlet in a main thouroughfare in Budapest. A big good luck to the Cafe Jubilee team on this milestone and their future franchising growth plans.

And once you are in Malta, be sure to look out for Jubilee Foods. Two retail stores in Malta (Ibragg and Pavi Shopping Complex) and a central one in Gozo Victoria (next door to Cafe Jubilee) produce some delicious home made ready-to-cook frozen foods prepared with fresh local produce, free of any preservatives or additives. Jubilee Foods also specialise in Gourmet Foods like their extra-virgin oil and honey, and in season specials for carnival, christmas and easter. Visit http://www.jubileefoods.net/ to find out more.
