Our Local Experts say:
Malta is better known for its sun, sand and sea, but it also has some lovely mature gardens in great locations. These are ideal for a leisurely stroll in the shade of century old trees at any time of the year.
The largest and most popular of Malta's gardens, even with locals and especially families, are the San Anton gardens adjacent to the President's palace, with its evocative fountains, ponds, trees and flora. However, there are a number of other gardens well worth a visit. There are a concentration of pretty public gardens around the Floriana area (located just outside the walls of the capital Valletta). Another recommended one is the Chinese Garden of Serenity situatued in an unlikely location just minutes away from the airport.
