Marbella Beaches

Our Top Marbella Beach Locations for Family Fun or a more VIP experience

Marbella beaches are many and varied, enjoyed by all who live and visit the area as places to chill out, spend time with family, exercise or party on with Sangria or a great mojito in hand!!  Our coastline is 27km long and there are 24 individual beaches however, rather than referring to beaches by their actual name, i.e. Playa de la Fontanilla or Playa Alicate, locals tend to talk about beaches in terms of the chiringuito (beach bar), restaurant or beach club that operates there.

Several of the beaches in Marbella also boast the prestigious Blue Flag awards, signifying they are the best in the world in terms of water quality, safety, facilities and environmental management. In addition to these blue flag promises, you can also find showers, public toilets (although often no baby changing facilities!), rubbish bins, lifeguards and parasols and sun loungers to rent on the majority of beaches along the Costa del Sol.

My Guide Marbella has spent many a summer's and winter's day on the different beaches in Marbella and we are happy to share, and continually update, this section of our site to help you find the perfect beach for your holiday, weekend or just for a cheeky hour off work! It's by no means a definitive list and please feel free to email us with your suggestions too of where you love to go!

Best Beaches for the family and kids...

Recommended primarily for their shallow waters and activities such as pedalos and banana boats, child-friendly beaches can be found all along the coast however there are a few that we believe are more favourable than others.  Generally speaking, Marbella is family friendly in all locations, there are only a few exceptions that we wouldn't advise on dates when the party season is in full flow but even on quieter days the 5-star venues still welcome the little ones.

The beaches to the East of Marbella are more sandy rather than pebbly so definitely the better option for some serious sand castle building!  If you head towards one of our favourite chiringuitos Las Flores or the more relaxed Hippopotamus Beach in El Rosario you will find plenty of good options on the menu for children as well as shallow waters and soft sands.  Or for a slightly more luxurious but family-friendly option Bono Beach is super with entertainment for kids in place over the weekend. Then, if watersports are also your thing nearby Estrella del Mar or The Beach House in Elviria are ideal for young families where Mum and Dad also fancy a bit of fine dining and pampering too!

If you are happy to drive a little further then the Beaches and Dunes at Cabopino are also a big hit with families with watersports and well priced restaurants to choose from such as Andy's Beach (just be aware there is also a nudist beach nearby that the kids may not want to find unknowingly!)

The Puerto Deportivo in the centre of Marbella probably has the largest selection of kid-friendly places to eat with proximity to some entertainment such as trampolines, playgrounds, Inflatable water parks and even buggy and bike hire too on the promenade area.  We would probably suggest heading here in the early evenings though rather than in the daytime as you don't find beach clubs as such in this location but it is ideal for entertainment into the late afternoon and evening.

Best Beaches for a touch of VIP or party atmosphere...

Recommended for their A-list celebrity following, luxury beach club service, fine dining and also a fair amount of partying day and night, Marbella has a host of Beach Clubs that are known worldwide as some of the best on the planet.

Our favourites include The Marbella Club Beach Club, Nikki Beach, Ocean Club, Sala Beach, Finca Cortesin Beach Club, Max Beach, La Cabane and Trocadero Arena for beach club glamour and sumptuous cuisine while Sonora Beach and Siroko Beach offer a laid back, more hippy Tarifa-style vibe.

We regularly include the events being hosted at these beach clubs in our events calendar so if you want to see if there is a special event on the day you are going have a look here first.
