During the year, all four seasons sweep across Ontario. In the winter, the temperature drops enough to produce a white blanket of snow that covers the ground, turning Ontario into a winter playground. Beginning in March, spring brings life back to the province, with the blooming trees and flowers restoring Ontario’s beautiful greenery. Summers in Ontario are moderate, but the humidity can shoot temperatures up to over 30°C, so make sure you’re prepared for the weather by wearing a hat, sunglasses, and lots of sunscreen! In the fall, the weather gets crisp and the temperature becomes perfect for long walks on provincial trails without overheating.
Because the province covers such a large geographical area, the temperatures in different parts of the province vary considerably, especially between Northern and Southern Ontario. Northern Ontario experiences a continental climate, where the cold winters don’t receive as much precipitation as the hot, sticky summers do. Southern Ontario also experiences this continental climate, but a much more moderate version of it. Month to month, the rainfall is quite consistent, however it is not uncommon to have stretches of very low to no rainfall during the summer months but it is always best to be prepared from some precipitation.
Below are monthly averages for the summer and winter months of various cities across Ontario.
