- Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando
Lake Eola Park proves to be one of the most popular destinations in Downtown Orlando. With its easy access to downtown restaurants, a movie theatre, shops, and art galleries, Lake Eola is a smorgasbord of activities. Whether you are there with family, friends, or a first date— a memorable time can be expected!
Lake Eola was originally a sinkhole back in the 1880s and by 1892, that sinkhole was turned into a beautiful lake. At the center of the lake is a gigantic dome-shaped fountain that is sure to catch your eye. Originally installed in 1912, the fountain has been a staple of Downtown Orlando ever since. It has received a few facelifts, the most notable being in recent years. In 2009, the fountain was unluckily struck by lightening and became inoperable. After renovation, thanks to the citizens of Orlando, the fountain flows gracefully once again and comes to life at night with a vibrant colored light show, accompanied by lively jazz music throughout the whole of Lake Eola Park. The show happens every night at 8 and 9:30 PM.

Things to Do at Lake Eola
An ideal day at Lake Eola Park would involve a nice walk around the lake while feeding the countless waddling ducks and swans. For those of you who want to take this a step further, you can experience the lake as if you were a swan yourself! We’re talking about the Lake Eola swan boats! In an oversized swan paddleboat, you can venture out to the fountain for a closer look and swim along with the iconic swans. It’s $12 to rent a swan paddleboat for a half hour, or $15 for a half hour in an electric boat.
If swan paddleboats don’t float your boat then there are many other options on land.
Located on the east side of the lake, you will find a playground perfect for the kiddies and an opportune time to sit, unwind, and watch them play.
For live entertainment, Lake Eola has The Walt Disney Amphitheatre, donated back in 1989. Its beautiful teal colors make it an attractive location to enjoy live music for all ages. So if you start hearing music from a distance and want more, head on over to the Amphitheatre benches for a free show.
For those of you who are looking for all the works of a treadmill but with a better view, Lake Eola makes the perfect running track in the great outdoors. Lake Eola’s sidewalk wraps around .9 miles in length making it easy to calculate your distance while you walk your dog, go for a jog, or get in a good run.

Food at Lake Eola
Looking to relax? There are a number of great restaurants right near the water's edge at Lake Eola. Spice Steakhouse and 310 Lakeside both offer top notch food and full bar menus with excellent wait staff. For a bit more laid back atmosphere, grab some drinks at the Relax Grill right next to the swan boat rentals on the west side of the lake.
If saving money is on your mind, what better way than to pack lunch in a picnic basket and sit on a bench or lay out a blanket? ust across the street from the lake you can buy everything you'll need for a great picnic at the Publix grocery store. We recommend heading to the deli for a Publix Sub (aka a Pub Sub!). A great experience doesn’t have to have a heavy price when you visit Lake Eola Park.
The Lake Eola Farmers Market
One of the best days to visit Lake Eola Park is Sunday, when Lake Eola Park hosts its weekly Farmer’s Market with off-the-clock parking meters for free parking on East Central Boulevard. Funnel cakes, hotdogs, burgers, corndogs, homemade soups, authentic ethnic foods, gelato, cupcakes, gourmet breakfasts and lunches—this is the spot to be when looking for fresh, organic and homegrown foods! Whether you’re seeking sweets or nutrients—the Farmer’s Market provides all types. Take wheat grass shots at happy hour; sample the sweetest tomatoes and fruits from local home growers; take your taste buds on an adventure and try something exotic; much is offered and delightfully waiting to be shared! The Farmer’s Market doesn’t offer just food, it is also decorated in tents of handmade jewelry, soaps, bags, shoes, and much, much more! While you shop around, live music plays from the heart of the Farmer’s Market, creating an awesome Sunday Funday! Oh, and we almost forgot our favourite part! In the middle of the farmer’s market where the live music is played, you can enjoy locally brewed beer and even $10 all you can drink mimosas from noon to 4pm!
Other Lake Eola Events
Another day that you need to mark your calendar for is Fireworks at the Fountain. Every Independence Day, the Lake Eola Park is host to a patriotic event which draws over 100,000 people to the downtown area. With free admission, you can enjoy live entertainment, games, and food all day for the highly anticipated thirty-minute firework display over the lake at night. There are also numerous other Lake Eola events throughout the year, so be sure to call the number at the bottom of this page for an update on what you can catch during your stay.
