Orlando International Airport

Orlando International is one of the 30 largest airports in the world serving 35 million people annually.  It is serviced by 44 airlines with destinations all over the world including London, Frankfurt, Dublin, Paris, Montreal, Toronto, and all of the major hubs in the United States.  It is a focus city for Jet Blue, Airtran, and Southwest Airlines. Orlando International is a convenient 12 miles (19km) from downtown Orlando, 20 miles (32km) from Disney, 13 miles (21km) from the Orange County Convention Center, and 18 miles (29km) from Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.  In case of delays or late night arrivals the airport offers an in-house Hyatt Regency hotel with 446 rooms.

Departure from Orlando

When departing from the Orlando International Airport, knowing which airline you are flying is the most important thing to remember, because there are two main terminals (A and B) and the airlines are split up between them.  This helps you navigate what can turn into a potentially tricky network of loops that circumnavigate the main terminal.  After that all you need to do is follow the signs and they will take you to your desired location.  For international flights, most airlines recommend arriving at least three hours before your scheduled departure time, but if flying during early morning hours (8am and earlier) you may be able to arrive a bit later as the airport is fairly empty and few lines exist.  We will caution though, on any given day this may not be true, so arrive later at your own risk.

At the Airport

When arriving in Orlando at the airport there are over 100 retail and food and beverage outlets.  There are also currency exchange centers, a full service bank, and a post office.  If possible then we recommend that you wait to exchange your currency until you leave the airport as rates are usually not favorable there.  If for some reason you are stuck or choose to stay overnight in the airport there is a Hyatt Regency hotel located in the main terminal of the airport.

Transportation

Transportation is readily available at the Orlando International Airport and can get you wherever you need to go.  If you are staying at one of the several Disney Resorts then you already have a complimentary shuttle service at your disposal.  Visitors flying in to take a cruise from nearby Port Canaveral also may have a complimentary shuttle service if you are cruising with Royal Caribbean International, Disney Cruise Line, or Carnival Cruise Lines.  For everyone else there is always a steady stream of taxis flowing through the arrival terminals that will take you wherever you need to go.  There is also a bus station for the Orlando wide bus service, called Lynx, at the airport. The bus terminal is located in Landside A Level 1.  Below you can find some pricing information on these services.

Parking at the Airport

The parking offered at the Orlando International Airport is varied and plentiful.  There are 9300 terminal parking spaces and 11,300 satellite spaces.  These spaces differentiate from short-term parking that is free for the first 40 minutes to long term parking that runs $17 a day if it is terminal parking and $10 a day for satellite parking.  Terminal parking is within walking distance of the main terminal and located in nearby parking garages while satellite parking is located on lots further out on airport property that can only be accessed by shuttles, which are free of charge to people parking in the lots.  There is also a free cell phone parking lot for pick ups that offers WiFi while you wait.  All parking can be paid with a SunPass/E-Pass if you are a Florida resident who owns one.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on our Contact Page and we will do our best to accommodate you and provide information as quickly as we can.
