INTRODUCTION:
U Ceskych Panu is a really attractive restaurant open till 11pm every day serving up a wide variety of international dishes as well giving you the chance to choose something classically Czech from their national cuisine offerings also. Located in the centre of the city and easily walkable from any part of the great boulevard which is Wenceslas Square this excellent eatery maintains a faithful local clientele along with receiving many visits from tourists and visitors who read up on it or happen upon it. All who come to it can't but be impressed by the remarkable old building in which they find themselves the deeds of which go back to Charles IV in the 14th century.
CUISINE AND SPECIALITIES:
The menu starts of with many delicious Entrees both Hot and Cold such as Prague Ham served with Butter fresh Horse-radish and Mustard or Grilled Sausage with Horse-radish. It needn't all be meat dishes at U Ceskych Panu as they do stylish Salads as well as some superb Cheese dishes. Meat dishes for a main course are in the majority and their Czech Specialities like Prague Goulash, Sirloin Beef in Cream Sauce or Roast pork with Bread Duplings are all outstanding. Alternatively one could go for Gnocchi or any of a number of tasty Pastas. Perhaps everyone will love dessert here as the Homemade Dessert offerings are really delicious. Complementing everything should be a fine Beverage and among the best here are their excellent Moravian wines.
ATMOSPHERE AND STYLE:
U Ceskych Panu is a busy and bustling place and when it is really going it has a capacity for up to 100 people at most. The dining space is divided between a large restaurant and a smaller salon which can cater for 25 people. Being as old and as venerable as it is the restaurant still maintains the architectural style of its gothic past but today of course it is beautifully furnished, air-conditioned and delightfully laid out. Discrete lighting perfectly highlights the arches and vaults of the old cellar walls and ceilings which are left undecorated allowing the old stone to give off a feeling of timelessness and wonder. It is a pleasure to sit here, perhaps over a fine glass of Wine or Brandy and ponder all the history that happened here down the centuries.
