Caficultura

Caficultura is renowned all over San Juan for its weekend brunch menu and the crowds who gather at its location in Old San Juan's Plaza Colon to sample it.

Caficultura was founded in 2009 with the purpose of bringing the consumer the best coffee Puerto Rico has to offer. All the while promoting the art of cultivation and the relationship of the coffee grower with his farm. This same concept is transferred to Caficultura's kitchen where they strive to utilize locally grown produced in accordance with the growing season.

With its' checker-board flooring, blackboard specials and high ceilings reminiscent of old apartment buildings in San Juan, Caficultura has a fantastic atmosphere.

The delicious smell of roasting Puerto Rican coffee beans sourced from a local farm and the sound of a barista at work do not disappoint when tasted in the cup.

With a veritable range of breakfast options, including the popular and traditional sweet Mallorcas dusted with icing sugar or banana rum pancakes.

For something more savory try the breakfast sandwiches and tortillas full of fresh deli meats and cheeses and available in whole-wheat, gluten free and tomato versions.

The best choice for a Sunday breakfast is the Eggs Benedict served with your choice of salmon or ham, and with lavish helpings of Hollandaise sauce.

They also do a full lunch menu and their home-made chips are worth sampling.

However at the weekend, Caficultura's popularity is its downfall and sometimes waits can be lengthy so make sure you are not in a hurry when choosing to eat here.

Caficultura won't break the bank and will be a great way to spend a Sunday morning or any morning for that matter, just make sure you have the whole morning to spare.
