New Zealand Area Codes

When you call a New Zealand telephone number from overseas, you will need to prefix your telephone number with ‘64’. 

When you call an overseas number from New Zealand, you will need to prefix your telephone number with ‘00’, followed by the corresponding country code (0061 if dialling Australia etc).

  • Invercargill - 3

  • Nelson - 3

  • North Island -  Central and East - 7
  • North Island - North - 9
  • North Island - West - 6
  • Palmerston North - 6
  • Pokeno - 9
  • Rotorua - 7
  • South Island - 3
  • Tauranga - 7
  • Timaru - 3
  • Wanganui - 6
  • Wellington Region - 4
  • Whangarei - 9
