Hamborgarabullan - Burger Joint

Hamborgarabullan, or just „Bullan“ is a burger joint by the harbour in downtown Reykjavík. It was fouded in spring 2004, and became popular pretty quickly. The place has an authentic feel to it, and entering Hamborgarabullan on Geirsgata is sort of like stepping into a time machine. The walls are covered with old film/band posters and pictures drawn by kids during their mealtime, and the ceiling is decorated with light sets. They play old fahsioned music, and have an old fashioned counter service. The place is owned by Tomas Tomasson, the true hamburger king of Iceland. This is not his first hamburger restaurant, and hopefully not his last.

The menu features three sizes of hamburgers; A normal 120gr bullu-burger, a small 82gr bullu-burger, and a double 164gr burger. Of course there are other options, such as Bullan's variation of Hard Rock café‘s pig sandwich, a ribeye steak, chicken fillets, ham and cheese sandwhich, and a veggie burger that is famous for being the best of it‘s kind in the whole city. On the desert menu you‘ll find a classic devil‘s food cake with a side of ice cream, and milkshakes. Try one of Hamborgarabullan‘s toothsome shakes. You can choose from five flavours; chocolate, strawberry, caramel, vanilla and coffee.

You can make things simple by ordering „The offer of the century“, a mid-sized bulla-burger, french fries and a coke for only 1390ISK. The bulla-burger has been awarded the prize for best burger in Grapevine magazine for three years in a row now, to nobody‘s surprise. They only use the best ingredients possible, roughly grounded top quality beef, cooked on an american gas barbeque. The burgers are all garnished with iceberg lettuce, tomato slices and chopped onions along with ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. Seems like there is no stopping Hamborgarabullan.
