Best Zoos and Wildlife in Tasmania

Local Recommendations from our My Guide Tasmania team

For a good day out and a great way to see some wildlife up close a visit to a zoo or wildlife park is a must. You can see Australian native animals as well more exotic animals from overseas. There's birds, snakes and of course marsupials.

Being nocturnal, Tasmanian devils are unlikely to be spotted in the wild but can easily be seen at a number of wildlife parks, where they have adapted to life in captivity and are often active in the daytime. The same goes for spotted quolls which are the next largest surviving carnivorous marsupial. Seahorses, platypus and echidnas are also rare to see in the wild but you can see and and learn about them at Seahorse World and Platypus House. Go on, get out amongst the animals!
