Our Locals' Tip: Would definitely recommend an outside table to enjoy the view but bring a cardigan to wear for the evening between the months of November and April.
I'm sure it's no surprise to learn that seafood makes a star appearance on many island restaurants. But with so much choice, where do you go to taste the best seafood in Tenerife?
La Caleta on the Costa Adeje has long been considered one of the south's best villages for seafood because of restaurants such as Masia del Mar. Opened in 1981, the restaurant is perched over the bay of La Caleta, pretty much as close to the ocean as you can get without getting your napkin wet.
Favoured by couples, families and large groups alike, this is a Tenerife seafood restaurant as it should be. Fresh fish is caught locally, by our own fleet. Cooked by experienced chefs, presented in spacious sea-view surroundings by a friendly waiting staff and offered at prices that won't make your jaw hit the floor.
It's the place for a long lazy lunch, a sunset cocktail with tapas, or a memorable waterside dinner with friends. It's also a place where you might learn a thing or two about cooking fish and other seafood, so don't be afraid to ask for tips on how to prepare the savoury Paella or rich Bouillabaise.
Naturally any fish dish benefits from a glass or three of complementary wine and you'll find Tenerife's Masia del Mar has one of the best wine cellars around.
Wednesday's, Thursday's and Sunday evenings the melodic lilt of live piano fills La Masia del Mar, while on Tuesday's and Friday night's it's the turn of the popular band "Los Guanches".
So next time you get that 'fishy' urge, point your car towards La Caleta and take an inside table or terrace seating for a seafood experience the way it should be.
