I Louvre Fashion

From the day I arrived in Paris in January, every day has had its fair share of memorable and entertaining moments. From witnessing a pickpocket on my first day, to old men making faces at babies on the subway, to a full orchestra playing in the metro, this city never has a dull moment. My most memorable time, however, was when I stumbled into fashion week's last day.

I was planning on going to the Louvre with a friend who said she hadn't been to there yet so I left the house early and decided to see the Mona Lisa before the crowds got there. Well the crowds somehow managed to know I was coming and got there earlier so I decided to just go sit in the courtyard behind the pyramid while I waited. I was a little bummed at first to see a giant tent pitched in the middle of it because, well it's one of my favorite places to sit and just admire the architecture, but it didn't take long to realize it was a fashion show going on (if you only knew half the things people were wearing you'd understand).

The show got out and I took it all in as all the photographers were barking at all the models to pose in their post-show attire and basically were rude in my opinion. I saw it as a chance to get them into a different mindset and walked up to them and nicely asked if they minded if we took some pictures together - "and can we do a funny one?" kept coming out of my mouth with every photo I took. Everyone was really genuine and down to earth. Some of the models and I were talking about how long they had been awake for (some for 24 hours) and how they just wanted to go get some fatty foods and watch chick flicks. By some sheer luck I stumbled not into one but into three shows that day and got to experience the essence of Paris fashion week in just one day.
